Mac’s mission of fostering higher education of youth in Blair County continues!

The McEldowney Academic Scholarship Fund needs continued community support in its 14th year of aiding higher education of Blair County youth. Since its inception, Mac’s fund has formed strong partnerships with educators, local businesses, and like-minded individuals such as you.

With rising college tuition costs, we are certain that our mission is more important than ever before. In fact, graduates of Pennsylvania colleges and universities have the third-highest average debt nationally and the average class of 2016 graduate owes more than $37,000 in debt. In response, Mac’s Fund has awarded more than $230,000 in scholarships to college bound seniors from each of our nine Blair County high schools—23 scholarships totaling $23,000 in 2016 alone.

We are working hard to prepare for this year’s annual Mac’s Irish Bash, and ask that you consider making a tax deductible donation of goods, services, or a financial contribution. We rely on the support of the thousands of individuals and local businesses that contribute to Mac’s Fund.

In 2003, we established the McEldowney Academic Scholarship Fund in memory of Dick “Mac” McEldowney. Following the overwhelming outpouring of love and generosity after Mac’s passing, those close to him knew his life’s work should continue and committed themselves carrying on his work of:

 Supporting local youth.
 Investing in our community.
 Helping those in need.
Organizing individuals for a greater good.
 Placing education first.

The 14th annual Mac’s Irish Bash will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona from 6 PM to midnight. Please support Mac’s legacy and our mission to the best of your ability by partnering with Mac’s Fund. A charitable donation to this year’s annual fundraiser will help us continue awarding scholarships to local high school seniors. When we combine your efforts with others, it gives our community the help it needs to grow strong future leaders in today’s youth.
